Have you ever heard of the saying that you get what you pay for? It certainly applies to the Numinix Google Merchant Center Feeder when you use it to export your Zen Cart feed to Google Shopping. That’s because you can run into a host of problems, and you’ll have to spend quite a bit of time and effort looking through forums for the right answers.

The thing is, this Numinix module is free, which makes it very attractive to a lot of ecommerce business owners who want to limit their expenditures. But sometimes you may just have to bite the bullet and pay for premium modules so that you can eliminate all the problems which are causing you a lot of wasted time and effort.

So what kind of premium plugins and services are we talking about? Here are our most recommended options:

  • Professional installation. Right now, there are a whole bunch of Numinix users trying to figure out what went wrong with their installations. This is what happens when amateurs try to do something themselves. But you can spend $45 to have professionals install the “free” module in less than 48 hours in most cases.

  • Google Product Search Feeder. This is the premium version of the Google Merchant Center Feeder, and it costs $35. It uses AJAX to prevent page reloads and browser timeouts when generating the Zen Cart feed. It also supports larger catalogs of more than a thousand products. You will also spend an extra $45 for the installation.

  • Numinix Products Field. This is another free module that allows you to put in additional fields for your items, but it will cost you another $45 to have it professionally installed.

  • Google Trusted Stores. This Numinix module requires the Google Product Search Feeder. Once you’ve qualified as a Google Trusted Store, the Numinix module helps make the integration process much smoother. The module itself costs $149.

Still, you’ll need some basic programming knowledge so you can follow the instructions contained in the documentation. The installation for this module can be very complicated, which is why professional installation costs $99. The professional installer will need access to your Google Merchant / Trusted Stores account so that they can complete the configuration. This also includes resizing your website’s images to meet the Google guidelines.

  • Product Variants Inventory Manager. If you sell variations of your items on the same page in your Zen Cart store, you have to manage the inventory of each variety separately. And this is the module you need for that. This will cost you $119 for a license, which allows you to download the latest version and use it for a year. You’ll still be able to use the plugin after a year, but you won’t be able to download the latest version.

This requires you to install the free CSS JS Loader and uninstall Stock by Attributes. Having the pro install the CSS JS Loader will cost you $45, and to uninstall the Stock by Attributes will cost an additional $70. The installation of the Product Variants Inventory Manager will also cost you an extra $79.

So if you are just starting out, adding up all these premium services can make a pretty convincing argument that the free Numinix Google Merchant Center Feeder is actually a very good deal, despite all the problems it causes!
